Monika Hyla

Guide
MONIKA HYLA does guided tours in Polish, English, and Russian. She is a native of Cracow who, upon request, can show you around the city in a traditional Cracow outfit. You definitely will not be bored with her, as she knows all the legends, interesting stories and funny anecdotes about the city.

About me

Monika Hyla – she graduated from the Department of Polish at the Jagiellonian University, she is also the first guide in Poland to have done postgraduate Cracow Studies at the Faculty of History of the Jagiellonian University. Monika has been a licensed Cracow, and Ojców  tour guide since 2010. The certificates she gained, entitle her to be a guide for organized groups, pilgrims, and individual tourists  in Polish, Russian, and English.

She is a nice, sociable, and open minded person, who likes working with, and for, others. Monika wants you to have a great time sightseeing, so she adapts the program of the tour to the needs of customers.

Her youngest customer was only 3  months old and was brought up the Sigismund Bell Tower by  his father. As for her oldest customers she admires how young they are in spirit. Her motto is: A smile is magic, it is created out of nothing, but can work miracles.

Lectures and training she participated in

As a professional tour guide, she constantly broadens her knowledge participating in  lectures, and training related to her job.

She was the first tour guide in Poland to have done Postgraduate Cracow Studies (Cracow Cultural Heritage) at the Jagiellonian University.

She has been a licensed tour guide at the Ojców National Park since 2010.

She also has licenses to provide tours of: the Royal Castle of Wawel, branches of the Historical Museum of the City of Cracow: Oskar Schindler’s Factory , Rynek Underground, Cybernetyka, Kraków – time, and space, Home Army Museum, The Museum of the People’s Republic of Poland, the Sanctuary of Saint John Paul II, and the MOCAK Museum

She underwent a two day training entitled: Traces of Pope John Paul II in Little Poland, a training for City Guides in the Cricoteca Tadeusz Kantor Museum, and training organized by the Jewish Community Center, entitled: The Present-Day Jewish Cracow, as well as in the one organized by the Abbey of the Benedictine Monks in Tyniec. Monika took part in a training session entitled: The Accessibility of Tourism for People with Disabilities.

She gave lectures during training sessions for Cracow City Guides, entitled: The History, and Culture of the Cracow Jews at the Galicia Jewish Museum.

Monika underwent three training sessions organized by the Polish Tourist Organization, regarding working with tourists from China, India, and Japan.

She is a member of the Cracow Tour Guides Association, and also the editor-in chief of their news bulletin
